December Meeting Minutes

We had a nice meeting in December. It was our final meeting at The Wheeler's house and the chapter would like to once again thank Mike, Lindsey, Conner and Ethan for hosting the chapter meetings for the past year.

December Meeting

We will be having our monthly meeting for the month of December on Wednesday December 1st (6:30pm) at the home of Mike and Lindsey Wheeler, 426 West 4th Street, in Port Angeles WA 98362.

Meeting Agenda:

1. Would the chapter support funding refreshments for the Elwha Nearshore Technical Consortium meeting in February, 2011. We have done this in the past with the Clallam Marine Resources committee.
2. Does the Chapter want to co-sponsor Clallam County Landowner Workshops on bluff management.
3. Lafarge Twin Rivers property update
4. Voting in a new Chair and Treasurer for the chapter. Also discussing a new monthly meeting location.

October Meeting

We will be having our monthly meeting for the month of October on Wednesday October 6th(6:30pm) at the home of Mike and Lindsey Wheeler, 426 West 4th Street, in Port Angeles WA 98362.

Murdock Beach Work Party and BBQ

Come join the OPC Surfrider community in a work party and BBQ at Murdock Beach. If you have never been to this great beach you will be amazed at its beauty. The party will begin at noon on Saturday October 2nd. Click here for a map. Basic directions are to drive west on highway 112 past the town of Joyce, approximately 2 miles past the Lyre River turn right and follow the signs to the beach.

August 4, 2010 Chapter Meeting

The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation will meet at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 4th, at Mike and Lindsey Wheelers home in Port Angeles.

We will be discussing the summers' events and the upcoming Elwha Dam Removal Project as well as the other Chapter business.

Please bring drinks and snacks to share.

Surfing and Traditions 2010

The 2010 Surfing and Traditions 7th Annual Youth Surf Camp
will be held on July 10th in La Push, Washington.

Elwha Rivermouth Access Closed-May 26, 2010

The Place Road access to the Elwha Rivermouth will be closed starting May 26, 2010.

The contractor reconstructing the Place Road Dike as part of the Elwha River Restoration Project will be moving equipment in and beginning construction activities.

This access will likely be closed for at least six weeks.

Your patience for the closure and respect for private property in the area is requested.

June 2010 Chapter Meeting Cancelled

Our regularly scheduled Olympic Peninsula Chapter Meeting for June, 2010, has been cancelled due to conflicting schedules by Chapter Officers.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 7th, 2010. See you there!

May Meeting

Coastal Cleanup 2010 @ Hobuck

Darryl Wood, OPC Chapter member and Nan Wright, Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary discuss logistics of the clean up.

The Olympic Peninsula Chapter hosted the barbeque for Coastal Cleanup Volunteers.

Chapter Members Darryl Wood, Mike Wheeler, Irwin Dent, and Charlie Parks set-up the kitchen and cooked the food. Thanks guys!

January 2010 - Meeting Minutes

The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation held its January 2010 meeting last night on 1.6.2010. We had a great turnout and even welcomed a new member. Chapter elections were held and we are proud to announce our new Chapter Chair Mike Wheeler and Co-Chair Darryl Wood.

There are several important upcoming events including HAZWOPER training and a call to action to support the "Working for Clean Water" bill. All of this an more is in this month's meeting minutes.

Our next meeting will be on February 3rd at Mike and Lindsey Wheeler's House so see you then.
